BI Front-end/Reporting Specialist

Major Responsibilities of the FPARS BI Front-end/Reporting Specialist
include the following:

Assignment Duties:
• Reports to the appropriate Team Lead;
• Responsible for reporting (i.e. BEx toolset, VC, Analyzer, Report
Designer,
• Information Broadcast) and for designing the BI front-end components
for planning;
• Provides reporting and data warehousing assistance and be a key
member of the BI team providing modeling, architecture and ETL
services for the enterprise warehouse;
• Collaborates with other team members to ensure data models meet
report specification requirements; and
• Provides on-going knowledge transfer to designated City staff
through job shadowing.

Skills
• Self-starter with people skills and the ability to work with both
business and technical teams in a result-driven manner;
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, especially for
developing technical documentation;
• Strong customer focus, collaboration, adaptability and planning and
organization skills;
• Accounting/ Finance background is desirable. Familiarity with
Variance Reporting
• processes for large (preferably Public Sector) enterprises would be
considered a plus, as would SAP-BI certification, particularly NW 7.X
based;
• Ability to analyze, problem solve and learn rapidly changing
technologies (i.e. Visual Composer, Web Intelligence, Xcelsius,
Portals etc);
• Ability to drive workshops to gather user requirements, map against
delivered SAP content, and translate into a coherent design document
using structured approaches;
• Ability to plan one’s work strategically and to implement
iteratively;
• Strong time management skills and multi-tasking capabilities; and
• Soft-skills, and the ability to build rapport by providing on-going
knowledge transfer to designated City staff through job shadowing.

Knowledge
• Ability to understand the business/system impacts of functionality
changes and recognize the integration impact of SAP changes;
• Knowledge of emerging SAP related technologies (i.e. NetWeaver
2004s) and ability to apply them to solve business problems and enable
new business opportunities;
• High-level knowledge of performance tuning techniques in BI; and
• Knowledge of Business Objects reporting solution (frontend) is
highly desirable - particularly BO Web Intelligence and Dash-boarding
applications such as Xcelsius.
• To a lesser extent, knowledge/ experience with OutlookSoft would be
advantageous.

Experience
• Experience in data modeling/data design of the SAP BI environment;
• Extensive knowledge of access to SAP R/3 and BW information via the
SAP BI reporting tools set;
• Experience in creating applications using Visual Composer and
deploying them via Portals;
• Expert at generating and processing query definitions with both the
BEx Query Designer and the BEx Web Application Designer;
• Four (4) years hands-on experience with three (3) full cycles of SAP
BW implementation;
• Experience of gathering user requirements, mapping against delivered
SAP content, and translating into a coherent design document;
• Demonstrable experience with Variance Reporting for HR, CO and FM
across
• Budget/ Actuals, Budget/ Forecast, Actuals/ Forecast etc., including
extensive use of Planning Applications (SEM-BPS, BI-IP etc) as source;
and
• Demonstrable experience with performance-driven design approaches to
reporting solutions, and experience with tuning & troubleshooting
performance issues involving reporting.
